The developer
StatRise is made by one independent developer who also makes CalcRef, PhysRef, Discretica and ScoreMint. Listing them here, as names rather than links, is simply disclosure of common ownership. No statistics department is involved with any of them.
Where the calculators and content come from
The math engine behind the calculators was ported from the StatRise mobile app, and the formula reference, glossary and lessons are read from one bundled content file. Calculations run in your browser and list each step on the way to the answer; a dataset you paste in is not uploaded. The simulations draw fresh random samples on every run.
Lesson progress, calculator history, practice attempts, mistakes and saved datasets are kept in this browser's local storage. There is no account and no server database, so clearing site data in the browser removes them.
Guides: names and dates
Guides are published as StatRise, with no person's name attached. Their structured data names StatRise, the organization, as author. Each guide's date records the last change to its wording.
What this site is not
StatRise is a study tool. It does not replace your course, your instructor, or a statistician working on a real analysis, and it is not statistical software for research. It cannot tell you whether a test suits your data or whether your data meets a test's assumptions; check any result that matters against your course material. The simulations are demonstrations of how sampling behaves, not a way to analyse your own study.
